Nature in motion

Located at the confluence of several sources of the Losse, Louzy is a small village of character in the Deux-Sèvres, north of Thouars. The site, consisting of 5 hectares of meadows and an aging poplar plantation, was once the park of a castle that has now disappeared. Some traces of this past still remain: the former dovecote of the farm, the barn, the surrounding walls, as well as the vestiges of canals and basins, which reveal the landscape once structured around gardens and courtyards. 

For a long time, the "Prairies du Château de Louzy" formed a vast area set back from the village - behind the church and the football field. Then the construction of the Hesperida cultural hall came to settle there; restoring a new centrality to this great enclosure (finally not so closed).

Our approach was to reconnect this space with the village and its facilities, while consolidating the uses for walking and leisure that already existed. It was a matter of rethinking the place of nature, enhancing environmental resources and local know-how, asserting an educational and cultural dimension, and creating a lively reception area throughout the year, by strengthening both the tourist attraction and the heritage of the village. 

Inspired by the history of the site and the desire to give it new meaning, we imagined with the municipal team a renaissance of places that are both free and unique.

Today, the "Clos du Château" becomes a stopover for hikers, fishermen or cyclists passing by and a friendly space to play, picnic, meet up or practice sports activities. At the heart of village life, it transforms into a living and vibrant landscape, evolving with the seasons.
